The Thai Meteorological Department reports a monsoon trough over the upper South, the East and the lower Northeast. It extends into a low-pressure cell over middle Vietnam. A moderate southwest monsoon prevails over the lower Andaman Sea, the lower South and the lower Gulf. Isolated heavy to very heavy rains are forecast in the Northeast and the East. Isolated heavy rains are also possible in the North, the Central region and the South.

Bangkok can expect scattered thundershowers today. Minimum temperature is 24-26°C, rising to a maximum of 32-34°C. Winds blow from the east at 10 to 20km/h.

In the North, scattered thundershowers with isolated heavy rain are expected in Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Phichit and Phetchabun. Temperatures range from 21-27°C to 32-37°C. Winds are northeasterly at 10 to 20km/h.

The Northeast faces fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rain. Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum and Khon Kaen are among the areas affected. Kalasin, Mukdahan, Maha Sarakham, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen and Si Sa Ket can also expect rain. Ubon Ratchathani faces isolated very heavy rain. Temperatures range from 22-25°C to 26-32°C, with variable winds of 10 to 25km/h.

The Central region will see fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain. Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Lop Buri and Saraburi are among the provinces affected. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi can also expect rain. Temperatures range from 23-25°C to 31-35°C. Winds are northeasterly at 10 to 20km/h.

The East will have scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain in Nakhon Nayok, Chonburi, Rayong and Chanthaburi. Trat can expect isolated very heavy rain. Temperatures range from 23-25°C to 30-35°C. Winds are variable at 15 to 35km/h. Waves reach 1-2 metres, rising above 2 metres in thundershowers.

On the southern east coast, fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain are forecast for Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon and Surat Thani. Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat can also expect rain. Temperatures range from 22-25°C to 32-36°C. Winds are variable at 15 to 35km/h from Surat Thani upward. From Nakhon Si Thammarat downward, winds turn southwesterly at 15 to 35km/h. Waves reach about 1 metre, 1-2 metres offshore, and above 2 metres in thundershowers.

On the southern west coast, fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain are expected in Ranong and Phang Nga. Temperatures range from 23-25°C to 31-34°C. Winds are variable at 20 to 35km/h from Phuket northward, with waves about 2 metres and above 2 metres in thundershowers. From Krabi southward, winds turn southwesterly at 15 to 35km/h, with waves of 1-2 metres and above 2 metres in thundershowers.

The department warns of heavy to very heavy rains that may cause flash floods, overflows and landslides. Foothills and lowlands near waterways face the greatest risk. Moderate winds and waves in the upper Andaman Sea are expected to reach about 2 metres, rising above 2 metres in thundershowers. All ships are advised to proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers.
