MARAWI CITY– Abdullah Macapaar, more known as Commander Bravo, was among the first voters to cast his ballot Monday as the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) held its first parliamentary elections.

In photos shared by Naif Amer on social media, Macapaar was accompanied by several close-in staff and relatives.

He was the face of the MILF’s armed struggle for self-governance in the Lanao provinces, commanding troops from his base in Munai, Lanao del Norte.

“For the first time, Commander Bravo has cast his vote—a meaningful moment that reflects his journey from the years of struggle to the peaceful exercise of his right and responsibility as a citizen,” Amer wrote on social media.

“May this election be a turning point for our people. May it be conducted with fairness, sincerity, and respect, and may the voice of every Bangsamoro be heard,” he added.

Macapaar has been a member of the interim Bangsamoro parliament, and is among the nominees of the MILF’s United Bangsamoro Justice Party for party representatives in the 80-member regional legislature.

A registered voter of Barangay Tampilong, Macapaar voted at a clustered precinct in Saduc Elementary School. /dp
