Where Are JP Miller and Suzie Skinner Now: The Netflix documentary Death of the Pastor’s Wife keeps circling back to the same four people: Mica Miller, John Paul Miller, Suzie Skinner and Chris Skinner.
Mica was JP Miller’s wife; Chris was Suzie’s husband; both Mica and Chris are dead now, and JP Miller and Suzie Skinner are married. This is where the story becomes considerably more complicated than a straightforward true-crime mystery.
The three-part Netflix documentary, which premiered on August 26, 2026, takes us back to Mica Miller’s life, her troubled marriage with JP Miller and the events surrounding her death in 2024. It also leaves the viewers with questions about the woman who eventually became Miller’s wife and the husband she had before JP Miller.
Where Are JP Miller and Suzie Skinner Now?
As of August 2026, JP Miller remains in the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area and is still preaching, although his former church, Solid Rock Church, no longer operates from the former building.
Netflix’s Tudum reports that the property has been sold and that Miller has continued preaching to a much smaller congregation at pop-up locations around Myrtle Beach, and Suzie Skinner has reportedly been leading worship alongside him.
The biggest change in JP Miller’s life is probably his marriage. He married Suzie Skinner on June 1, 2025, a little more than a year after Mica’s death, and the couple had reportedly held a private beach ceremony at Myrtle Beach.
In December 2025, a federal grand jury indicted him on cyberstalking and making false statements to federal investigators. The indictment includes allegations that he caused tracking devices to be placed on her vehicle and contacted her more than 50 times a day and even interfered with her finances and daily life.
However, Miller pleaded not guilty and has not been charged with Mica’s death. His federal trial is now expected during the October 2026 term.
What Happened to Mica Miller?
Mica Miller died in April 2024, two days after serving JP Miller with divorce papers. She was found at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina, and the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office ruled her death a suicide after reviewing surveillance footage, interviews, physical evidence and medical examination.

Her family and friends have continued to question the circumstances around her death, especially in the light of what they said she experienced during her time in marriage. The documentary revisits allegations of controlling behaviours and coercion and Mica’s attempts to leave the relationship.
Who Is Suzie Skinner and What Happened to Her Husband?
Before Suzie Skinner became Mrs Miller, she was married to Chris Skinner. Chris was a US veteran and motivational speaker who had met with a serious accident, leaving him quadriplegic. He had met Suzie during his rehabilitation, where she worked.
Chris died in September 2021 after being found unresponsive in a swimming pool at a residential community in Myrtle Beach. His death was initially classified as accidental drowning, and that is where the story starts getting messy.
Later reporting and the documentary brought attention to allegations that JP Miller and Suzie Skinner had been romantically involved while being in their respective marriages. Chris’ family alleged that he knew of the relationship and confronted JP Miller before his death. JP has, however, disputed the timeline of his relationship with Suzie.
JP Miller and Suzie Skinner Got Married
This is the detail that gives the timeline a strange look. Chris died in 2021, Mica died in 2024, and JP and Suzie got married in 2025.
Netflix’s documentary places particular emphasis on the alleged affair between JP and Suzie, and the couple’s marriage became part of the larger public attention with the case, especially because both had previously been married to people who are now dead.
The disturbing timeline is, however, in no way proof of the murder itself.
What Happens to JP Miller Next?
The immediate future for JP is much less mysterious than the two deaths. There is a federal criminal case against him, and he faces charges of cyberstalking and making false statements to federal investigators. The indictment alleges a prolonged campaign of harassment of Mica, but it does not charge him with her death, and he has pleaded not guilty.
His trial is for October 2026. He has remarried; JP Miller and Suzie Skinner are married, he continues to preach and has moved on from the former church building. Suzie remains his wife and reportedly works alongside him in worship ministry.
The Part that Should Not Get Lost
True crime has a way of turning people into characters: the pastor, the wife, the new wife, the new wife’s ex-husband, the mysterious deaths and a suspicious timeline.
Mica Miller and Chris Skinner were real people. Their deaths have become connected in the public imagination because of the people left behind and the relationships surrounding them, but the facts are more complicated than the theories.
