Rain keeps its grip on Thailand today. The north and the southern west coast are the wettest regions, both at 60% coverage, and Bangkok sits at 60% as well.

The Thai Meteorological Department blames a monsoon trough running from Myanmar through Laos into Vietnam. A fairly strong southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea is adding to it.

Forecasters warn of flash floods, runoff from higher ground and rivers spilling their banks. Hillside areas, land near waterways and low-lying ground are the places most at risk.

North Thunderstorms over 60% of the area, heavy in parts of Mae Hong Son, Tak and Phetchabun. Lows of 22 to 27C and highs of 32 to 36C. Southwest wind at 10 to 20kph.

Northeast Thunderstorms over 40% of the area, heavy in parts of Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon and Nakhon Phanom. Lows of 24 to 26C and highs of 32 to 35C. Southwest wind at 10 to 20kph.

Central Thunderstorms over 40% of the area, mainly in Nakhon Sawan, Lopburi, Saraburi and Kanchanaburi. Lows of 23 to 27C and highs of 33 to 35C. Southwest wind at 10 to 25kph.

East Thunderstorms over 40% of the area, heavy in parts of Chanthaburi and Trat. Lows of 24 to 28C and highs of 30 to 34C. Southwest wind at 20 to 35kph, with waves around 2 metres and higher where storms hit.

South, east coast Thunderstorms over 40% of the area, mainly in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Songkhla. Lows of 23 to 26C and highs of 33 to 36C. Southwest wind at 15 to 35kph, with waves of 1 to 2 metres.

South, west coast Thunderstorms over 60% of the area, heavy in parts of Ranong, Trang and Satun. Lows of 24 to 27C and highs of 30 to 34C.

From Ranong northwards the southwest wind runs at 20 to 40kph and waves reach 2 to 3 metres, going above 3 metres in storms. From Phang Nga southwards the wind is 15 to 35kph with waves of 1 to 2 metres.

Bangkok and surrounding provinces Thunderstorms over 60% of the area. Lows of 26 to 28C and highs of 33 to 35C. Southwest wind at 10 to 25kph.

Conditions in the upper Andaman Sea are rough enough that small boats should stay ashore. Larger vessels should keep clear of thunderstorms.
