Silo Season 3 Ending Explained: With season 3 now over, we have finally connected the two timelines that the series started off with. As Juliette runs at full speed to uncover the truth behind Silo 1, we learn how Daniel Keene became Troy and his connection to the silos. As the series ends with the episode titled “Troy,” we finally realise the shifting power dynamics inside Silo 18 and how this could just be one of the biggest conflicts that the series has seen yet.

The first half of the series explores Juliette suffering from memory loss after the events of the last season in the present, along with Daniel and Helen’s journey in the past and how the silos came into being. By the end, of course, things turn out to be more connected than one could’ve expected.

Silo Season 3 Finale Recap: Does Silo 18 Survive the Safeguard?

As Juliette and her allies try to figure out how to uncover the mystery behind the silos and who is controlling everyone and everything from Silo 1, the immediate threat against the inhabitants is the safeguard that exists to kill everyone in a particular silo in case of any emergency. After Bernard’s sacrifice in episode 9, Juliette and the others continue to push forward for answers while trying to figure out a way to stop the Safeguard from deploying. Camille helps the cause by convincing the Algorithm that she’s trying to control the rebellion in her silo and buys the others more time.

Eventually, thanks to the efforts of Knox, Shirley and the others, the Safeguard doesn’t go off, preventing the poison from being released in Silo 18. However, there is another layer to this. After the threat is temporarily stopped, Juliette attempts to enter the mysterious door beneath the Silo and is stopped by the Algorithm, who makes a deal with her – he will not deploy the Safeguard if she agrees not to go into Silo 1. Although she agrees for appearances and for the safety of Silo 18’s inhabitants, it’s clear that she will never stop looking for the answers not just to her own silo, but to that of Silo 1, which apparently controls everything.

Why Does Juliette Want to Attack Silo 1?

Juliette pieces together throughout the seasons that there is something or someone in Silo 1 that is controlling the other silos. In Season 3, after rebelling against everyone, she comes to the decision that they cannot remain on the defensive forever and must take matters into their own hands. Thus, she decides that they must take the fight to Silo 1 if they want to truly be free. However, on the path there, she comes face to face with Troy – the man running Silo 1.

Who Is Troy in Silo Season 3?

In a rather shocking twist, Troy turns out to be Daniel Keene, the Congressman viewers have been following since episode 1 of this season. While he was a sensible and kind-hearted man in Before Times, he is a completely different person now after being awakened from cryogenic sleep. Now, Troy is a man who makes tough and brutal decisions without flinching, unlike the man viewers had seen before. It’s a shocking revelation that brings both timelines in this season together, showcasing just how unforgiving and brutal life is.

Why Does Troy Keep Seeing Helen?

Daniel was separated from Helen when the atomic bomb was dropped, and the two were dragged into different silos. In the present, even after losing so much of his personality and humanity, Troy seems to remember the one person who meant so much to him, a tether to a part of his humanity that still exists somewhere in his mind. Although he cannot remember who she is, he knows that she’s important to him and, thus, asks Victor about her. It’s a devastating emotional revelation that showcases that, even though Silo 1 tried to remove everything about Daniel’s past, they couldn’t take Helen away from him.

Is Daniel Going to Help Juliette?

As things stand in season 3, it’s not clear whether or not Daniel will help Juliette. However, as more of Daniel begins to remember parts of his past and realises what Silo 1 has made him do, he might be more receptive to understanding Juliette’s perspective. However, with Juliette looking at attacking Silo 1, it might complicate matters for both of them. In the end, it brings forth an interesting conflict for season 4.

The Real Meaning of the Silo Season 3 Ending

In the end, we finally peek behind the curtain of what the silos are and what lies in Silo 1 – a command centre that will do whatever it takes to keep order in all the other silos. However, to what end will this continue, and what exists beyond the silos? It also leaves us with the question of who gets to decide what happens to the people living inside the silos.

Ultimately, the series is about control versus choice. People inside the silos were fed half-truths that hampered their decision-making and choices. Juliette’s daring venture into the unknown made everyone question the very foundation of their lives, and this push and pull is what season 4 needs to explore more. With Troy slowly getting his memories back, will it hamper the way he views things and skew his decisions? We’ll have to wait and see.
