MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.3 earthquake hit the waters off Balut Island, Sarangani, Davao Occidental, on Saturday morning, state seismologists said. The earthquake was an aftershock of the massive M7.8 offshore Sarangani and M6.5 offshore Davao Occidental earthquakes that struck in June 2026, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
