New James Bond has not been cast yet, but the internet has already made a call several times. The producer, Amy Pascal, has already mentioned that the reveal can be expected by the end of 2026.
What is Happening?
At this point, choosing the next 007 is more than just a casting announcement: it is a prolonged cultural event. There are favourites and even former favourites who have all suddenly resurrected from the dead of the internet’s search history.
Amazon MGM only confirmed in May that the search for a new-era Bond is underway, while clearly stating that it would not comment on specific details.
So while the internet is speculating, people actually making the film have mostly been keeping the cards close to their chest while the speculations turn enormous.
The Names that appear
The casting director Nina Gold, as put by Collider, “The studio wants someone young enough to carry the franchise for “three or four movies.”
A few names have been appearing in the speculation lists, which include: Callum Turner, Harris Dickinson, Jacob Elordi, Theo James, Jonathan Bailey, Tom Holland, Tom Hardy, Patrick Gibson, among others
Callum Turner is having a very ‘Bond summer’. If there is one name common in most lists and conversations, it is Callum Turner. The current entertainment coverage also places the actor among the leading contenders.
The British actor was even asked about the Bond chatter only minutes after the press conference for his new movie Rosebush Pruning began, but Turner reportedly “politely deflected questions regarding ongoing rumours that he is set to play the next James Bond.”

Turner also has a kind of portfolio that makes the speculations understandable. He has been building momentum across film and television, and his name becomes increasingly familiar to the audience without an overwhelming attachment to a franchise.
Jacob Elordi has been linked to the role particularly because the new Bond could be younger, as the reports suggest. His casting might even bring a different energy to 007, making him an interesting name in the conversation.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the Bond rumour that bonds up so tight that it refuses to fade. He continues to be on the list of contenders for years. Back in 2022, The Sun had even leaked that he took a ‘secret screen test’. Then in 2025, when the actor appeared in an official ad campaign for watchmaker Omega, the fans became sure of him being the next James Bond.
Some websites also include Tom Holland in the race to be the next Bond alongside Turner, Elordi and Taylor-Johnson. Holland has also addressed the speculation himself, calling Bond the “pinnacle” for a young British actor while stopping short of confirming anything.
Harris Dickinson is playing John Lennon in Sam Mendes’ upcoming four-film Beatles project. Mendes, of course, previously directed Skyfall and Spectre, making Dickinson’s collaboration with the former Bond filmmaker an interesting footnote in the current 007 speculation. But there are also reports of withdrawing of his name from the list.
The Torchbearer’s Responsibility
Daniel Craig’s Bond era lasted five films and ended with No Time to Die in 2021; therefore, whoever comes next is not just inheriting the hat but is also inheriting a character that has already been radically reshaped once.
A younger Bond could mean another tonal reset
Denis Villeneuve: The Most Important Name
While everyone seems busy speculating about the new James Bond, debating the face of 007, Denis Villeneuve is directing the upcoming Bond film.
Amazon MGM officially announced Villeneuve as director in June 2025, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman producing and Tanya Lapointe executive producing. Steven Knight is writing the screenplay.
That kind of creative combination tells us considerably more about the next Bond than a hundred speculative casting lists do.
The Announcement Is ‘Coming Soon’
The latest update makes the waiting game slightly less painful.
Producer Amy Pascal has indicated that the casting announcement is expected before the end of 2026, meaning the endless speculation should eventually meet an actual answer.
Until then, the Bond machine will continue doing what it does best.
An actor will give an evasive interview; someone will notice he wore a suit; somebody else will remember that he once played a spy; a fan account will create a poster.
And suddenly another name will start trending.
The new James Bond cast has not been announced yet. All the names that appear are based on speculation. Comment down your bet for the new Bond.
