My Royal Nemesis Episode 8 Review

How does this episode begin?
The episode begins with another flashback where we see Se-gye and Seo-ri enjoying a romantic moment, while Se-gye makes Seo-ri understand the beauty of rain. This leaves a strong impression on Seo-ri, who falls for the Prince more. Back in the present, Seo-ri kind of confesses to Se-gye, but what she actually meant was that she would protect him from the media. She then takes Se-gye outside and handles the situation interestingly. Seo-ri also claimed that she already has a lover and that there is nothing going on between Se-gye and Seo-ri.
What happens after this confession?
This confession helped Se-gye’s image a lot. Not only that, but it also helped Se-gye gain temporary control over his image, which was badly affected by Moon-do’s conspiracies. However, Tae-hee is also hellbent on getting married to Se-gye, and this creates a bad situation for the main pair.

Why does Tae-hee want Se-gye so bad?
There is no clear answer as to why she is so hung up on marrying Se-gye. It becomes clear that she just sees him as a conquest and cannot stand the fact that a man is rejecting her outright. She also does everything in her power to spread rumours about their relationship and release them to the press, so that Se-gye gets forced to marry her. Apart from that, she also conspires with Se-gye’s grandfather so that they can put pressure on Se-gye together. Se-gye, on the other hand, is sure that he does not want to do anything with her.
For whom does Moon-do care so much?
In this episode, we finally learn that he has a son whom he genuinely cares for. Most likely, the son is also a baseball player, and Moon-do buys a glove for him. But they are probably estranged and do not live together, so maybe Moon-do does not have a very good relationship with his child.

Do we get a clear picture of Se-gye’s past?
In this episode, we finally get a clear picture of what happened in Se-gye’s past. Seo-ri was captured and forced to choose between two very bad outcomes. She would either see her beloved get apprehended for causing treason, which he did not. Or, she would give a false confession that he tried to do something very bad to her. To save the Prince, Seo-ri decides to confess against him, and she does this in front of the King and Se-gye.
What happens in the end?

Se-gye falls asleep and sees how he was betrayed in his dreams. He then goes to confront Seo-ri and even calls her by her past name. It is not shown whether he blames her for it or not.
What worked and what did not work?
I absolutely loved this episode as it had a unique blend of romance, comedy and drama. I am absolutely hooked on the fact that Se-gye has recovered his memories from the past. Now I just want to see how he will associate with Seo-ri from here on.
