Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 9 Review: Power Changes Everything as the House Descends Into Chaos

The consequences of previous decisions are being served on a platter in Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 9 as the house descends into chaos amid dwindling funds, sparking outrage among those who are unsafe. The contestants are forced to confront their choices as people fight with Shreya, who refuses to adjust with her fellow mates, clearly nursing a bruised ego. Fortunately, the episode has some sort of interesting gameplay as well, as a new task is introduced that tests everyone’s fate and patience in equal measure.

Thankfully, most of the interactions in this episode feel natural, although Harshad’s bizarre reaction to Shivangi’s fight with Shreya will leave a bad taste in most viewers’ mouths.

The contestants in season 2 include Ram Kapoor, Shivangi Joshi, Sunita Ahuja, Dheeraj Dhoopar, Akanksha Chaudhary, Sufi Motiwala, Varun Yadav, Yogesh Rawat, Pamela Sarena, Shreya Kalra, Riyaz Aly, Shresta Iyer, Akanksha Chamola, Madhuri Jain Grover, Shilpa Shinde and Harshad Chopda, while the hosts are Ritesh Deshmukh and Farah Khan.

  • What happens in Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 9?

Episode 9 deals with the fallout from the contestants spending most of their ration fund in the previous episode. A new dare-based task introduces the Access Card, giving Shreya Kalra control over meal distribution, while fresh arguments erupt over food, strategy and house responsibilities.

  • Who wins the Access Card in Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 9?

Shreya Kalra receives the Access Card during the dare task. She uses her new authority to ask fellow contestants to apologise to her before allowing them access to meals, creating further tension inside the jail.

  • Why do the contestants fight in Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 9?

The primary reason is the severe shortage of ration money after the previous bidding task. Contestants disagree over food, teamwork and strategic decisions, while existing rivalries continue to fuel several confrontations throughout the episode.

  • Is Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 9 worth watching?

If you enjoy strategy-driven reality television, Episode 9 is one of the stronger instalments of the season. The Access Card twist and the consequences of the ration crisis make the gameplay more engaging, although viewers who prefer fewer arguments may find parts of the episode repetitive.

Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 9 Review

The Ration Crisis Finally Comes Back to Haunt Everyone

Almost immediately as the episode starts, the consequences from episode 8 come back to haunt the contestants as the dwindling ration funds cause immediate discontent. Shreya Kalra refuses to work with everyone and demands to eat, as she is not safe and doesn’t deserve to compromise. Butting heads with Akanksha Chaudhary, cooperation quickly goes down the drain as Chaudhary orders food without her request, and Ram Kapoor and the others start to bash her for making a rash decision. Rather than approaching the shortage collectively, the frustrations spill over immediately, resulting in a huge fight.

Kalra, being provoked by Shilpa Shinde, refuses to budge on her evening snacks, resulting in an immediate divide. Most of the episode follows the ramifications of this fight as everyone starts to feel petty and does absolutely insane things to get back at each other.

A Simple Task Introduces One of the Season’s Best Twists

However, not all of the episode is petty fights as Ritesh Deshmukh arrives to deliver a new task – contestants are allowed to rush to a podium to get a special advantage which might or might not be in their favour. It can be anything or nothing, and they will just have to try their luck. When the siren starts, it’s Madhuri ji who is first to the podium and gets an interesting advantage: she can gift someone a premium meal. Since it’s Varun’s birthday, she agrees to give it to him.

The next in line is Shreya, who gets a dangerous new advantage: she gets to control the Access Card and will be the only one to order food for the week. With her newfound power over the house, she makes everyone apologise to her if they want to eat, and decides to cut off their lunch when Akanksha, Sufi and Yogesh refuse to bow down to her. It’s a shocking turn of events that leaves everyone in the house mortified, and Chaudhary is quick to point out how no one stands up to her in this situation. It showcases how quick Kalra is to pull petty moves to feel powerful, as Sufi is quickly able to clock the behaviour.

For viewers, this is an entertaining twist as it highlights how human beings will exercise even the smallest and most fleeting powers that they have on others if that makes them feel powerful. It adds another layer to an already disturbed house and promises more drama in upcoming episodes.

Tempers Reach a Dangerous Boiling Point

The episode’s most uncomfortable situation, however, arises from Harshad Chopda. Initially accused of being invisible, viewers will find it almost impossible to believe the more they see the season unfold. In episode 9, after a verbal spat with Kalra, Shivangi goes to Harshad to vent, who immediately has a huge and unnecessary reaction. He almost rushes to confront Kalra, looking menacing, almost as if he’s about to physically tackle her. Ram Kapoor, Joshi, and Chamola have to physically push him back so he doesn’t do something terrible, although it doesn’t stop him from verbally abusing her.

It’s a bizarre overreaction that doesn’t make sense. And although one can say that it’s the straw that broke the camel’s back, Chopda’s behaviour does seem dangerous.

Shilpa Shinde Continues to Stir the Pot

Having entered the competition as a wild card, Shinde has been an interesting character to watch. While she’s almost always stirring the pot in one way or another, it’s interesting to note that she’s always at the centre of all the drama, where everyone can always see her. Even behind the scenes, she’s constantly provoking people and telling half-truths, hoping to break bonds among the contestants. It’s clear that her game plan is to sow as much discontent as possible, and only time will tell how far this will get her in the game.

Final Verdict

In the end, Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 9 has a ton of nasty fights among the contestants. A lot is going on, but the focus is mostly on the drama that the series likes to stir up to get maximum eyeballs. However, the twist that the series adds thanks to the new task is very interesting and makes viewers wait to see who will get what special advantage eventually. With the episode ending with Riyaz being able to choose one safe person to become unsafe, things are about to get more complex, especially since the preview hints at a massive fight between Chaudhary and Shinde!
