For many parents, the biggest challenge isn’t deciding whether to consider overseas education–it’s knowing where to begin. Rather than spending months researching schools online–or travelling across the United States to visit campuses individually. Families in Bangkok will have the rare opportunity to meet representatives from more than 30 leading American boarding schools in one afternoon on November 8, 2026, when the Sesameed American Boarding School Fair returns to Bangkok for its fourth consecutive year.

Admission is complimentary, but advance registration is required as the event is held at a private venue. The event takes place at The Okura Prestige Bangkok, Grand Ballroom, 3rd Floor, from 3pm to 5pm.

Who you’ll meet

Families will have the opportunity to speak with:

  • School representatives travelling from the United States
Admissions directors who review applications and can answer questions about academics, athletics, the arts, boarding life, and university pathways
  • Alumni
Who can share firsthand experiences of boarding school life and how it shaped their confidence, character, and future opportunities
  • Current boarding school families
Who can offer genuine insights into what the journey is really like for a child from this part of the world, sharing the growth and transformation they’ve witnessed since day one

Among the distinguished schools attending this year’s fair are Choate Rosemary Hall, Deerfield Academy, The Hotchkiss School, and The Lawrenceville School, alongside many other leading American boarding schools.

The fair represents a wide spectrum of schools from junior to senior boarding, co-educational and single-gender schools, large campuses and smaller communities–because the right fit is different for every child.

Meeting admissions directors, alumni, and current boarding school families gives parents the opportunity to ask questions that simply can’t be answered through brochures or school websites.

Families who are not yet ready to consider full-time boarding can also explore summer programmes offered by many participating schools, allowing students to experience campus life before making a longer-term decision.

Why families are looking at US boarding schools

Bangkok’s international school sector is stronger than it has ever been, with enrolments rising even as Thailand’s overall student population contracts. That same internationally mobile parent base is also looking ahead to university pathways, and an American boarding school sits at a useful intersection:

  • Rigorous US college preparation
  • A residential environment that develops independence
  • Dedicated university counselling that helps students build competitive applications for highly selective universities, including Ivy League institutions

More than 30 of America’s most respected boarding schools are represented at this fair, which makes it genuinely rare. Families whose children are currently in Grades 5 to 12 will find that the boarding school admissions timeline is more compressed than most parents in Bangkok initially expect, with applications for selective US schools typically opening in the autumn of the year before the intended entry and decisions arriving by late winter. Meeting admissions directors in person before that process begins gives families a meaningful head start.

The fair is also appropriate for families still in the early stages of research. The event is explicitly structured to accommodate parents and students who are curious to learn more, not only those who have already decided to apply.

Whether you’re just beginning to explore boarding school or actively preparing for future applications, this fair offers an opportunity to ask questions, compare schools, and gain clarity on the educational path that best suits your child.

What to expect on the day

The two-hour format is built around direct access rather than a lecture programme. Visitors can move between school tables, speak with representatives at their own pace, and ask the questions that matter most for their child’s specific situation, whether the priority is academic depth, athletic development, arts, campus size, or the admissions requirements for international students from Thailand.

Unlike a traditional seminar, families can spend the afternoon having one-on-one conversations with schools that match their child’s interests, goals, and aspirations.

Many families attend the fair expecting to collect brochures. Instead, they leave with something far more valuable: clarity. After speaking directly with admissions directors, comparing schools side by side, and hearing from alumni and current boarding school families, parents gain a much clearer understanding of which schools align with their child’s personality, interests, and aspirations.

Another fair in Singapore

Families unable to attend in Bangkok may also visit the Singapore fair on November 1 at The American Club, from 2pm to 4pm. Bangkok families who have children studying in Singapore, or who are considering a regional move, may find attending both worthwhile.

This is one of the few opportunities each year for families in Thailand to meet so many leading American boarding schools in person. As attendance is limited and the event is held at a private venue, advance registration is required.

For families still mapping the broader education landscape before committing to a US option, international school enrolments across Bangkok and Thailand’s provinces have expanded considerably in recent years, and understanding what is available locally helps frame what a US boarding school adds that cannot be replicated closer to home.
