The Chinese Embassy in Bangkok has praised Thai rescue workers, residents, and a reporter after they helped a Chinese tourist recover a lost handbag containing cash and important documents in Chachoengsao.

The embassy shared the heartwarming story on its Facebook page, Chinese Embassy Bangkok, yesterday, June 4, describing the incident as an example of the friendship between the Chinese and Thai people.

According to the post, the Chinese tourist was travelling to Chon Buri when the handbag was lost on a highway in Bang Pakong district. The bag contained 20,000 baht in cash and important documents, while some of the money was reportedly blown away by strong winds.

The embassy said local rescue workers, members of the public, and a reporter joined the search effort. After nearly an hour of searching, all of the missing cash and documents were recovered and returned to the tourist.

The tourist was said to be deeply grateful after receiving the belongings and expressed sincere thanks for the assistance provided by those involved.

In its post, the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok expressed appreciation for the kindness, friendship, and willingness of Thai people to help others.

According to the embassy, the incident reflected the long-standing friendship between Thailand and China and demonstrated how cooperation and goodwill continue to be shown through everyday interactions between their people.

It added that citizens from the two countries have had closer contact in recent years, helping build stronger friendships.

In a related development, China’s Foreign Ministry pledged to strengthen cooperation with Thailand on law enforcement and shared growth.

The statement came as a nine-member Thai delegation led by Tej Bunnag, secretary general of the Thai Red Cross Society and former foreign minister, visited Beijing to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
