Blue by Alain Ducasse has launched its 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival mooncake collection, “Once in a Blue Moon,” featuring four flavours created for the season and available for pre-order throughout July.
Inspired by the rare Blue Moon phenomenon, the limited-edition collection is designed around the themes of togetherness, reunion, and the joy of sharing meaningful moments with family and friends.
The collection was created by Executive Pastry Chef Christophe Grilo, recipient of Tatler Thailand’s Best Pastry Chef 2026 and winner of Iron Chef Thailand 2025.
Each mooncake combines contemporary French pastry techniques with Asian Mid-Autumn traditions, with a focus on balanced flavours, textures, and presentation.
Four mooncake flavours
The Blue by Alain Ducasse mooncakes 2026 collection features four creations:
Coulant d’Or Lunaire – Egg Yolk Lava
A layered mooncake with a rich molten egg yolk centre.
Tiramisu Clair de Lune – Coffee, Chocolate and Cream
A combination of espresso, cacao, and cream inspired by classic tiramisu.
Lotus au Fromage – Lotus Cheese
A contemporary interpretation of traditional lotus paste with a creamy cheese centre.
Sésame Volcanique – Black Sesame Lava
A roasted black sesame mooncake with a molten centre and a lingering nutty finish.
The collection is intended to balance familiar Mid-Autumn flavours with more modern pastry influences.
Each mooncake is handcrafted and presented as both a seasonal gift and a shared dining experience for the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Blue by Alain Ducasse states that the collection reflects the generosity, gratitude, and sense of celebration associated with the festival while bringing a contemporary approach to traditional mooncake-making.
The “Once in a Blue Moon” theme draws on the idea that special moments do not happen every day, positioning the collection as a way to mark rare and meaningful occasions with loved ones.
Pre-order and collection dates
Pre-orders are available from July 1 to 31, 2026.
The collection will be available for purchase and collection from August 1 to September 25, 2026.
