Thailand weather today, 15 October: heavy rain in 19 provinces, Bangkok showers

Heavy rain is forecast in 19 provinces today. The Central region, East and South bear the brunt of the downpours. Bangkok can expect scattered thundershowers, with highs reaching 35°C.

The Thai Meteorological Department warns that accumulated rain may trigger flash floods. Overflows and landslides are possible near waterways and foothills.

A high-pressure system from China covers the upper North, upper Northeast and the South China Sea. Easterly and southeasterly winds draw moisture from the South China Sea toward Thailand and the Gulf. This produces thundershowers with gusts across the North, Central, East and South.

South (west coast)

Scattered thundershowers bring isolated heavy rain to Ranong and Phang Nga. Satun also faces the downpours. Lows of 23-25°C and highs of 31-35°C are expected, with easterly winds of 15 to 30km/h. Waves reach about 1 metre, rising above 2 metres in thundershowers.

Warnings

Residents in affected areas should watch for flash floods near waterways and foothills. Overflows and landslides remain a risk in these zones. Ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should steer clear of thundershowers, where waves exceed 2 metres.
