
BACOLOD CITY — Long queues and a last-minute rush in urban centers marked the final day of voter registration in Negros Occidental, with 7,548 applicants processed on Monday, Provincial Elections Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said.
Ananoria noted a heavy turnout in the cities, while municipalities recorded fewer registrants.

The highly urbanized city of Bacolod posted the highest number of registrants in the province, with 1,236 applications processed, based on Commission on Elections data provided by Ananoria on Monday night.
Other major northern and southern hubs also logged strong turnout figures, led by Silay City with 408 registrants, followed by Bago City with 354, Talisay City with 334, Sagay City with 333, Kabankalan City with 330, and Himamaylan City with 306.
La Carlota City recorded 303 registrants, Cadiz City 297, San Carlos City 292, and Victorias City 274.
Isabela and La Castellana each processed 254 applications, while Escalante City and Binalbagan both processed 240.
Moderate turnout was seen in Murcia with 208 registrants, Hinigaran with 205, Cauayan with 195, Hinoba-an with 177, Moises Padilla with 154, Candoni with 153, Calatrava with 118, Pontevedra with 113, Sipalay City with 110, and Enrique B. Magalona with 101.
Smaller municipalities experienced a quieter final day of registration.
San Enrique recorded 96 applicants, Salvador Benedicto processed 93, and Toboso logged 73.
The lowest registration figures were recorded in Ilog with 68 applicants, Valladolid, 63, and Pulupandan with only 52 processed applications.
Local election offices will now move to the consolidation period and the upcoming Election Registration Board hearings to finalize voter rosters for the next elections./coa
