Colombian singer and songwriter Shakira has officially teased the new song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The global superstar released a short video of the track filmed at Brazil’s famous Maracanã Stadium.
In the 67-second clip, Shakira stands on the pitch while performing parts of the energetic anthem in English. She holds the official 2026 World Cup match ball, known as the “Trionda”, as dancers wearing the colours of countries including the United States and Colombia join her on the field.
The song, titled “Dai Dai”, features Nigerian superstar Burna Boy and will officially release on Thursday, 14 May 2026. The FIFA World Cup social media pages also shared the teaser video with the message: “From Maracaná Stadium, here is ‘Dai Dai,’ the @fifaworldcup Official Song 2026. Coming 5/14. We’re ready!”
SHAKIRA BRINGS ENERGY WITH “DAI DAI”
The phrase “Dai Dai” comes from Italian and translates to “Come on, come on!” or “Go, go!” in English. People often use the expression to motivate others or cheer on teams during sporting events.
The teaser video captures that excitement and football spirit as Shakira dances across the field surrounded by colourful choreography and lively music.
SHAKIRA CONTINUES HER WORLD CUP LEGACY
Shakira shares a long history with the FIFA World Cup. She previously performed at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cup finals and created some of the tournament’s most memorable songs.
Her 2010 anthem, Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), became one of the biggest World Cup songs of all time, while La La La (Brazil 2014) also enjoyed worldwide success.
“Dai Dai” now marks Shakira’s official return to World Cup music more than a decade later, bringing fresh energy ahead of the 2026 tournament.
TYLA JOINS FIFA WORLD CUP CELEBRATIONS
South African star Tyla will also play a major role during the 2026 FIFA World Cup celebrations. FIFA recently announced that Tyla will perform at the opening ceremony in Mexico in June.
The singer will add a South African touch to the global sporting event as she joins other international performers on one of football’s biggest stages.
