What happens after Subaru forgets everything?

Subaru introduces himself to Emilia and Betty, who let him know he already knew them from before. Subaru surprisingly takes this information very well. He claims that he regrets not remembering them, but at the same time, assures them that he will eventually remember because that is exactly what happens in fantasies. This version of Subaru is a lot happier-go-luckier and unserious than the actual version. This is precisely because he has not yet gone through all the harrowing experiences of the current Subaru. However, Emilia also realises that it is the same Subaru who always talks about silly stuff.

What was Ram’s reaction after learning about this?

Re:ZERO Season 4 Episode 8 Review

Ram was not at all happy after learning that Subaru had completely forgotten about them. She distrusts the fact that Subaru lost his memories. Weirdly enough, Shaula was not at all phased. However, the one who takes this information the hardest is none other than Julius. He could not even look at Subaru.

Why did Ram not believe Subaru?

Ram thought that Subaru was acting. She took him somewhere else and tried to make him confess the truth. She asks him what he was plotting this time and tells him to at least tell her. She even raises her voice at him and reveals a vulnerable side born of helplessness.

What does Lady Anastasia say here?

Lady Anastasia reveals the truth about her not being the actual Anastasia in front of everyone. She claims that the real Anastasia is actually sleeping within the body, and she is Echidna. She is just temporarily standing in for the real Anastasia. Hearing this, Emilia also gets shocked because the Echidna she knew was the witch of greed.

Did anyone ask Subaru why he lost his memories?

Re:ZERO Season 4 Episode 8 Review

Julius actually asked Subaru what led him to forget his memories. Emilia tells everyone that he was found unconscious in the third-floor archive room. Anastasia then theorises that maybe the archive or the books there did something to him.

From what moment does the episode take a dark turn?

Just when things feel like they’re going well, Subaru gets subjected to his cruel fate yet again. His new version also gets a taste of how it feels to die multiple times and wake up with all the memories intact. Additionally, his new self faces the same despair of being unable to disclose his secret and to suffer in silence. The mystery thickens on who could be the one who is targeting Subaru and killing him in the most despicable way possible.

What worked and what did not work?

I absolutely loved the sudden gore that hits you out of nowhere. The way this anime takes the craziness from 0 to 200 in seconds is amazing. One moment everything feels normal, and the next moment it feels like the whole world is falling apart. There was honestly nothing I disliked about this episode. I am really excited to see what kind of destruction and chaos the next episode will bring.
