MANILA, Philippines — Winning candidates in the first Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections may bring four companions to their proclamation, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Monday.

According to the poll body, winning candidates are only required to submit the following information via email to the Bangsamoro Electoral Office, as well as furnish copies to the Gun Ban and Security Concerns Committee:
- List of complete names of their guests/companions;
- Plate numbers of the vehicles to be used; and
- Name of the driver of each vehicle.
However, Comelec reminded candidates that bringing firearms remains strictly prohibited.
“Should any firearm/s be brought to the venue, it shall be deposited in accordance with the applicable security protocols,” the poll body’s advisory read.
The proclamation ceremony will be held at the 6th Infantry Division, Camp Siongco in Barangay Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.
Marked as a historic step for the region toward self-governance, peace and inclusive development, regular voting hours for BARMM began at 7 a.m.
The elections will fill the 80-seat parliament, with 40 seats allotted to political parties, 32 to district representatives, and eight to sectoral organizations. /mcm
