Anele Mdoda Mgudlwa has been ordered to pay her domestic helper, Thuleleni Mlalazi, also known as Florence, a R90 000 settlement after the latter took her to the CCMA.
The Zimbabwean woman has claimed unfair dismissal as well as a dispute over the ownership of a car she was reportedly given.
Florence worked as a helper in Anele’s home, particularly as a nanny to the media personality’s son, Alakhe.
ANELE PAYS ZIM DOMESTIC HELPER R90K SETTLEMENT
A recent report revealed that Anele Mdoda Mgudlwa agreed to pay her former domestic helper R90 000 in a settlement.
This relates to a squabble over a car ownership and other disputes following her recent termination.
Florence claims that she was fired by Anele’s husband, Bonelela “Buzza” Mgudlwa, amid rising tensions following several disagreements.
The Zimbabwean national rubbished claims that Anele purchased her a car, stating that she was asked to trade in her own car for an Audi A3, and later a VW Polo, which was ultimately registered in her employer’s name. She also claimed that Anele’s husband would use the car without refuelling it.
Flo stated that she felt “betrayed” by what had transpired.
In response, Anele has claimed that Florence was fired for several instances of misconduct, including theft, dishonesty, and attempts to extort other staff.
CAR, VACATION AND A PROMOTION
Before the dramatic dismissal, Anele Mdoda (then unmarried) was widely hailed as the “most generous boss” in the country.
The 947 presenter claimed to have gifted Florence a R300 000 Audi A3 in 2017. In 2023, she gifted her helper a vacation across Europe.
The media personality previously claimed that Flo received a month’s fully paid leave during the festive period. She also revealed that she paid for the transport costs of all her employees.
But when an X user commented that the employee was “lucky,” Anele responded: “Flo works very hard. There is no luck here.”
In 2024, Anele revealed that Florence had been promoted to the “PA team and wardrobe assistant” for her production company.
