The Thai Meteorological Department forecasts heavy rain in 48 provinces today. The North, Northeast, Central and East regions are hit hardest. Very heavy rain is possible in 19 of those provinces, including Nakhon Ratchasima, Kanchanaburi, Chon Buri and Trat. Bangkok faces fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy to very heavy rain, with lows of 22-24°C and highs of 29-31°C.
A low-pressure cell over the East is moving along a monsoon trough. The trough crosses the lower Central and East regions. The southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf is strengthening. The department warns of flash floods, overflows and landslides near waterways and foothills.
Bangkok
Fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy to very heavy rain are expected across the capital. Lows of 22-24°C and highs of 29-31°C. Winds stay variable at 10 to 25km/h.
North
Scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain affect Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang and Uttaradit. Sukhothai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok and Phichit face similar showers. Isolated very heavy rain is forecast in Phetchabun. Lows of 21-26°C and highs of 32-35°C, with easterly winds of 10 to 20km/h.
Northeast
Fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain hit Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen and Kalasin. Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Buri Ram, Surin and Si Sa Ket face the same downpours. Isolated very heavy rain is forecast in Nakhon Ratchasima. Lows of 22-24°C and highs of 27-33°C, with northeasterly winds of 10 to 25km/h.
Central
Fairly widespread thundershowers and scattered heavy rain affect Uthai Thani, Ratchaburi, Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram. Isolated very heavy rain is forecast in Nakhon Sawan, Chai Nat, Sing Buri and Ang Thong. Lop Buri, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi and Nakhon Pathom also face very heavy rain. Lows of 22-25°C and highs of 29-32°C, with variable winds of 10 to 25km/h.
East
Fairly widespread thundershowers and scattered heavy rain, with isolated very heavy rain, cover Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo and Chachoengsao. Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat face the same downpours. Lows of 22-24°C and highs of 26-29°C. Winds stay variable at 20 to 40km/h, with waves of 2-3 metres, above 3 metres in thundershowers.
South (east coast)
Fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain affect Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon and Surat Thani. Lows of 22-25°C and highs of 32-35°C. From Surat Thani northward, northwesterly winds reach 20 to 35km/h, with waves of about 2 metres, above 3 metres in thundershowers. From Nakhon Si Thammarat southward, westerly winds reach 15 to 35km/h, with waves of 1-2 metres, above 3 metres in thundershowers.
South (west coast)
Scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain affect Ranong and Phang Nga. Lows of 23-25°C and highs of 30-34°C. From Phang Nga northward, westerly winds reach 20 to 35km/h, with waves of 1-2 metres, above 2 metres in thundershowers. From Phuket southward, southwesterly winds reach 15 to 35km/h, with waves of 1-2 metres, above 2 metres in thundershowers.
Warnings
The department urges caution over heavy to very heavy rain that may trigger flash floods, overflows and landslides near foothills and waterways. Waves in the upper Gulf reach 2-3 metres, above 3 metres in thundershowers. The upper Andaman Sea sees waves of about 2 metres, above 2 metres in thundershowers. Ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should steer clear of thundershowers, and small boats in the upper Gulf should stay ashore until 27 September 2026.
